Monday 2/4 - Rest Day
This is how I spent my Monday. On Sunday during the Super Bowl my eye started to hurt and I thought I just needed to get home and take my contacts out. But this is how I woke up Monday morning. I went to the Dr. and it turns out I have a scratched cornea and an eye infection. They sent me home with some eye drops and a follow up appointment for Tuesday.
Tuesday 2/5 - Rest Day
Arrrrrrgh Matey! My appointment today revealed that the scratch had actually gotten worse. So they sent me on my way with some ointment, an eye patch and another follow up appointment for Wednesday. My mindset these past two days has been a true testament to the changes I have made in my lifestyle. I am more upset about not being able to workout than I actually am about the horrible pain radiating from my eye.
Wednesday 2/6 - Rest Day
I had yet another doctors appointment today. I got the patch off and was given a prescription for ointment and drops and was told not to wear my contacts until next week. UGH. I am so over this already. The pain has subsided a little but my vision is still very blurry in that eye. Still no one-eyed workouts for me. My best attempt at a workout today was some time on the rebounder and some turbo cleaning.
Thursday 2/7
Today I had to remind myself that if you want something bad enough, you really have to push for it no matter what. I got my eye patch off yesterday but my eye is still sore, red, and my vision is blurred. I can't wear my contacts until next week. Working out in glasses is a nightmare for a sweaty bettie like myself. I haven't been able to workout all week and it was making me crazy. So today I worked out anyway. I was careful and did it with steamy glasses and all. Even though my eye still hurts, I feel a million times better after getting a nice sweat session in. I got 9 complete rounds plus 5 pull-ups. Not too shabby for having a bum eye. :) This first 4 rounds I did assisted pull-ups on the bar and for the final 5 I did vertical rows on the equalizer bars.

I love getting my husband involved in my workouts. Everything is better when he does it with me. Even though he always whoops my time.

This was a real butt kicker. I felt great afterwards. I've really missed my gym this week. Working out at home is awesome and I am thankful for all of the equipment I have. But there is something indescribable about the anticipation and exciting anxiety of walking into Rainier Crossfit and loving/dreading whatever might be on that board and then finishing the wod and looking at the board and thinking "That's right, I just owned that workout and gave it my all" It's the thrill of listening to everyone shout "time" and knowing that you are surrounded by other badass athletes that support you and push you regardless of your skill level. It is truly something to behold. I suppose if I can workout in my home gym, that I probably could have gone to the gym. But with my eye still being blurry, I wanted to be in the comfort of my own home while trying to do anything too active.
Saturday 2/9
Today the husband and I got a nice walk in. We went to the store for some groceries and then took the long way home. It was pretty cold outside but it felt nice to get out and walk instead of driving there. We walk everywhere in the summer but it is a lot less fun in the cold and rain of winter.
After our walk, I got another short but intense workout in. It feels so good to get my sweat on.
50 Jumping Jacks
40 Double Unders
30 Mountain Climbers
20 Push-Ups
10 Oblique Crunches (each side)
3 rounds for time

Sunday 2/10
Today I wasn't feeling like doing much but I knew I needed to at least get a little activity in. So, I walked the long way to the store for coffee and took the even longer way home. It was nice weather for a run but I can't run with my glasses on or I get a bad tension headache. The same thing happens with sunglasses also. Anyone else have this problem?? My eye is almost back to 100% today and hopefully at my doctor appointment on Tuesday I will get the all clear to wear my contact lenses. It is supposed to be in the 50's this week and I would like to get some nice, long runs in.
WEIGH-INS
I dropped another 4 pounds this week. I'm pretty proud of my progress. I had put a little weight back on and am very close to seeing all time new lows again. I have a renewed determination and am now facing a deadline of sorts. I am in a wedding in mid May and I ordered my dress one size too small. The pressure is on. I work well under pressure and I like being pushed. Challenge accepted!!
Share your workouts, weight loss and non-scale victories with me!! I'd love to hear them.

Sorry to read about your eye! Happy it's healing up nicely.
ReplyDeleteCan I ask what equipment you have in your home gym?
We have a dumbbell set from 5 - 45 pounds, treadmill, balance ball, kettlebells, abmats, jumpropes, pull-up bar, equalizer bars, suspension straps, sandbags, trampoline, foam roller, resistance bands. It's a work in progress. I can't wait to get even more equipment.
